Networking is a crucial task managers must carry out, if they want their business to survive. Most people use MySpace out of curiosity and for private purposes only. This article will help you to understand how you can use MySpace to expand your business network and make the most of these new opportunities.

People class MySpace as a ‘leisure only’ facility and have the impression that there is no explicit regulation for sales transactions so that they should not occur. That’s where they are wrong!

Once you’re a registered user, your goal will be to make friends. Get out there and make as many as you can. Of course, this may sound a bit weird as they’re not really friends but remember this is only business! Also there are some privacy issues you have to be careful with but the main point here is that you are learning to network effectively.

The best way to be a successful networker in MySpace is to sign up with 3 or 4 different accounts. Then you can get specific targeted groups on each and experiment with a specific niche with all of them. Also if you have a personal MySpace account, please use it for leisure only. Don’t use it for any of the business dealings we are explaining here.

OK, then you have to keep in mind that your ultimate goal is to make money on MySpace and make heaps of it. In order to achieve this, you must get your friend’s list to grow as big as possible, and quick. It might sound difficult at first but you will have the resources that you need to be successful. A big, strong friends’ list is your best asset for success.

So how do we go about networking and growing a list? The traditional way to add friends to your profile is the easiest, but not that effective. If you’re not too sure about building your network, start this way!

Go and browse the profiles in the database. If you see any person with a personality or details that seem interesting to you, click on their profile then click ‘add to friends’ link under their profile default picture. Once you do this, a message will be sent to that person asking them if they agree to be your friend. If they do, they will be added to your list. If they reject your request, don’t be upset, just keep on browsing the database for some more profiles and cooler friends!

This is a quite time consuming task! So if you want to grow your list fast I would not recommend it. Read further on for some tips to build up a high quality list with no waste of time:

• Create two, three even four accounts and customize each of them for a particular niche. This way, you will quickly grow good lists.
  
  
• Put a picture of a sexy looking woman on your profile. All right, it’s a bit naughty but the average dude is not attracted to geeky looking guys (no offense meant to anyone) and this will really help you to get more friends. Believe me, it sounds a little bit dodgy but it is really effective! You don’t have to do it if  you feel it’s against your  morals! These are just suggestions.
  
  
• Make a pact with an existing member who already has a large group of friends. Offer them a joint venture opportunity and they might be interested. You can benefit of someone else’s list without having to do all the dirty work.
  
  
• You could create a theme-based profile. E.g. Say if you like the game half life, you could create your profile around this. Then watch your friend list explode!
