Firstly, you can resize you images automatically as you upload them to your profile using our
free image hosting. If that doesn’t give you enough flexibility, or you want to resize images on your computer before you upload them, then follow the guide below:
Anyone who has ever tried adding a picture to MySpace knows it can be a nightmare! All of those complicated terms, as well as the hassle of trying to make it fit, plus figure out how to use the software is more than some people can possibly handle. To begin with, you need to locate a picture you want to upload. Then go to this web site and download a program called
IrFanView. Once you have
installed this software you are ready to get started.
Once you have downloaded the program, you can follow the instructions to install. Simply double click on the .exe file that was saved and follow the on screen instructions. This is a very simple process that should only take a couple of minutes. Once the software is installed, double click the IrFanView and it will open up. Once it is open, you can go to the File menu and select the picture you want to resize on your computer.
Once you have selected your picture that you want to use, and it is loaded into the screen. You want to look on the right side of the screen. You should see an option called “Resize/Resample” you want to click on this. A small menu will pop up that will allow you to select a file size. Generally, a file of 640 x 480 is small enough to download quickly, yet still have a good picture quality. After you select the picture size you want, click on “Ok,” the image will now resize.
Once you have resized your picture, you need to save it. You should to up to the file menu and select “Save As” this will enable you to name your picture, and decide where on your computer to save it. You can also select the format you want to save the picture in. The best option to choose is JPEG. Once you have named the file, as well as selected the JPEG format, you can click “Save.” You are now done resizing your picture.
Next step is to upload your newly resized picture onto MySpace so that others can actually see it. Now you can go to MySpace and login to your account. Once you have logged in you should be at the Welcome Page. If you look next to the gray area, where your picture would be, or if you have already uploaded a picture in the area next to your picture should be a link that says “Add/Edit Photos.” You want to click on this link.
Once you have clicked on that link, you will be able to search your computer for the picture that you previously resized. Once you find it, select that picture, and click ok. Now you can click on the “Upload” button. In order for your picture to upload successfully, it must be smaller than 600 kilobytes. Once the picture has uploaded, you will see a message telling you “Thank you for uploading your image from IP address” where it says IP address, it will include your IP address.
If you do not see this message then the picture has not uploaded successfully. You will need to repeat the upload process again. Once the picture has been uploaded, you will have the option of adding a caption to your picture if you wish. This is completely optional and does not have to be done.
If this whole process seems really complicated it is not, but as mentioned before we do have a much easier option that you can use. Simply go to and
upload your picture. This will enable you to create a picture that can be successfully uploaded to MySpace with no problems.
This last option is much easier, however provides less flexibility than using the IrFanView software. The options are yours, but you now have the tools and information you need in order to successfully add your favorite pictures to your MySpace page.
