How to build a targeted audience on MySpace? |
|
MySpace trains are an amazing tool for you to build a big group of friends. It’s also a good way of Networking to meet other people and promote your business. If you are unsure what a train is or haven’t seen a train or, it’s actually a website that has a specific program code that allows a member to add their profile to a chain that is seen in all the bulletins boards on the different MySpace communities.
It features a list of people along with a link to their profiles and a link to add them to your friends list. You can also click "Add All" at the bottom of the train when you view it in real time, and it will add all 30 people at once. It is without any doubt the fastest way to add plenty of friends to your profile!
Whoring… The name sounds weird but you don’t forget it once you’ve heard it! It is now famous in the MySpace communities. Whoring is a tool used by many marketers on MySpace. What people do is that they agree that they will post each other’s profiles in a bulletin in a specific niche. This way, they will be seen by all their friends participating. When people see some good comments on a profile, an “add-friend” button will be included in the message giving the user an option to add them to the list.
For example:
Member A sends a bulletin message to all his friends declaring that Member B is a great guy and should be added.
Member B does the same thing on their bulletin as part of the agreement and both members increase their list.
This is a very effective way to get some extra friends fast.
Using groups is also a nice way to get a targeted audience or to find out what is popular or what people need. I think the best use for the Internet now is that it provides us with up to date information on everything, with just a click of a button. We can follow up trends, new products or ‘buzz’ as soon as they appear and with a great accuracy. Anything that is added to the Internet can be accessed 24/24 for a very long time.
In terms of marketing on MySpace, the best thing is that you don’t have to go out looking for niches to target to because the categories are already made out for you.
Let’s take a group of 600 people interested in vintage fashion; they will already have created their own group. Remember these groups grow with new members joining each day. So even smaller niche groups are worth keeping an eye on because they turn out to be the next big thing and grow exponentially. If you get hold of these before the hype, you might have a winner.
As this is occurring more and more often, MySpacers have realized this and some groups may not forbid ads or links to be placed in their forums. But there is still a lot where you can advertise in, so don’t worry! Just take care you read the rules and regulations before you start making posts on forums.
The best move is to start your own group. Why? Because when you are group moderator you will be the one to make the rules. Another good reason to become a moderator is that people value your advice, as they think that you are the expert and it eliminates your competitors.
