How to Create and Cancel Groups on MySpace |

The Groups function on MySpace helps individuals with similar interests or needs to communicate, make new friends who have the same interests and keep in touch. Any member of MySpace can make a request to join any group on MySpace; however, in some cases approval to join the group may be left up to the leader of the group.
In addition to joining any of the many groups on MySpace you can also create your own group. This allows you to become an expert or authority figure on any topic that interests you. Groups can be created on a variety of topics including television shows and just about anything else you can think of. One of the best ways to get started is to first conduct a search in order to determine whether there are any other groups that are already created on MySpace regarding that same subject. Keep in mind that even if there is already a group created that does not prohibit you from creating another group. You can begin the search by browsing through the categories of groups on MySpace from your homepage. The Groups page can be located from the link at the top of the page. It is located directly between Forum and Events. Click on the Groups link and it will take you to the page that lists all of the many different categories of groups on MySpace. There will be a number of groups that are present in each category in parenthesis located to the right of every category. You can click on the category name to search the groups if you would like.
If you decide you want to go ahead an create your own group you can get started by logging onto your MySpace account and then clicking on the Groups menu at the top, located under the search bar. Next, click on the Create Group in the menu located on the left.
You will have several options regarding exactly how you want to set up your group. For example, you can give your group its own name as well as choose exactly which category it would best fit into. You will also be able to choose whether you want to let everyone who wants join the group. If you would prefer, you can choose to approve people who want to join the list as well.
The hidden group function allows you to keep your group private. Under this rule only those individuals you invite can join the group. Another function also makes it possible to allow members of your group to invite others to join the group. You can also choose whether you want anyone who wishes to post to your group in the public forum. This is an option only and you can turn it off. The same goes for bulletins; you can allow or prohibit members from posting to the bulletins page. In addition, if you wish, you can allow members to post images or set it so that you are the only one who can post images.
After you have created a group if you decide that you no longer want the group you can cancel it. In order to do this you will need to visit the group page and then click on the Edit Groups link. Now, look for the Cancel link and click on it. You will need to confirm the cancellation. An email will be sent you for the final confirmation that you actually want to cancel the group. In order to cancel you will need to click on the link in that email to finalize the cancellation.
