Creeps on Myspace is something that many parents fear....
It's possible to do a search to find sex offenders on MySpace
The unknown of 'who is who' on MySpace is a very frightening thought for many parents and is not something that should be taken lightly. In the internet age there have been tons of perverts and creeps who are preying on the innocent children around the world and a child of any age, regardless of gender can be targeted.
So how do you protect your child? That is a very long discussion so instead the issue becomes how can you possibly catch a creep online to protect the masses who surf around unsuspecting of who everyone is? Well according to a Wired report by Kevin Poulsen it is possible to do an automated search comparing the sex offender registries to the users on MySpace.
Kevin admits that this process takes a very long time to complete, and does result in a very large number of false positives. However, he claims that the script is good for doing some of the preliminary work associated with protecting the innocent from the cyber creeps who are roaming.
In the wired article, Kevin has even offered a BSD license of the software so that users can use the software themselves, improve upon it, and offer suggestions on how it can be improved. The goal is for this to become something that takes a lot less human interaction and products a much lower number of false positives.
While we are discussing false positives, it is very important to note that in the software he created he admits there were false positives in the thousands that the software found. However, using a human to compare the data confirmed that they were not true positives that required attention any further. This makes it very important to accurately inspect the information and ensure that someone is not accused whom is actually innocent.
From the research that Kevin did, it was reported that one suspect was actually arrested for attempted child endangerment charges because of information that was found on their MySpace page. The criminal mentioned in Kevin’s article is Andrew Lubrano, who was arrested by the New York Suffolk County Police Department. This is a huge shocker to some parents who just assume that MySpace is perfectly safe.
Whether it is really safe or not is still completely unknown. However, it is so easy for people to join there are sure to be some bad apples in the bunch. The process of running the software has three parts that must be fully completed before it is considered a successful run. The first part of the software queries the Department of Justices servers using a zip code search for registered sex offenders.
Once this process is completed a table must be made with the results from the Department of Justice search, this itself can take up to 3 days to gather the results from the DOJ servers. This is a large majority of the time. From here, the information is then searched on MySpace. The software simply enters the name and zip code of each offender and starts tracking the pages that are returned.
From here, it is up to a human eye to start comparing pictures and other relevant information on the site to determine if it is a match or a false positive. This is a very lengthy process from start to finish that takes a very long time. Whether it is reasonable to do on a continuous basis or not is still unknown, but there is much support for helping keep people safe from the creeps who tend to prey on the innocent people they find online.
The recent events that unfolded at the Virginia Tech School have left everyone shaken. It is hard to try to understand what the families of the victims as well as the survivors have been through during such an ordeal. The popular website MySpace has many different postings by friends of the victims how are mourning. They are sharing their feelings as well as asking questions about how and why something like this could have happened.
You can take a look at most anywhere on the internet and find thousands of postings on the various blogs out there. Many parents and experts wonder if this has become the new way of mourning for this generation though. Instead of talking with family, friends, and counselors they are pouring their hearts out by typing the information and posting it. This is definitely safer than taking to a real person in many ways but it takes away that chance for human interaction to physically offer comfort.
Yet this method is also allowing many individuals an avenue for opening up and sharing their experiences. One common method of therapy is writing down your feelings in a journal. Is writing the information down on a MySpace page or a blog any different? In almost all aspects it really isn’t.
Many of the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting actually had MySpace pages set up. Thousands of people have clicked on the links to these pages to find out more about the people who had their lives cut short due to such an act of violence. In addition, the MySpace pages for fallen soldiers all over the world due to the war have been having their pages visited as a tribute by internet users as well. This is all done out of mourning and respect for those who gave their lives so bravely.
There are plenty of other stories out there with death taking place even if they aren’t on a National scale. Recent ones include a mother who passed away from breast cancer and a group of teenagers who died in a car accident on their way home from a night of partying.
The messages left for those who have passed on from people all over the world really allow you to see the compassion that truly does live on in our society. The messages are full of emotion and support. In an age where computer technology is dominate having someone remembered by showering their MySpace page with notes and pictures is very acceptable and a common way to mourn.
MySpace currently doesn’t have any policies in place regarding taking down the pages of those who have died. Many are encouraging MySpace to leave them up sense they serve as a wonderful reminder of the individual. They also offer a place where everyone can come share their feelings about the event. Since there is no given length of time that a person grieves for someone else, this type of memorial can serve as a well needed support system anytime.
We all know that MySpace is the super giant of the social network world. Everyone has a MySpace page from small children, to little old ladies and gentlemen. Those millions of MySpace pages are filled with everyone from the sweet and innocent, to the criminal minded people. Nevertheless, what good do the criminal MySpace pages really do for police?
Surprisingly there are times when it can be a great blessing. Such a case occurred according to the Examiner when it came to the case of several robberies over a two-week span. Police were highly confused about who the robbers were until they started locating some information that led them to their MySpace page. What the police found on the MySpace pages was shocking.
"On one MySpace page, they found a picture of the mask used in the robberies of two cell phone stores, a KFC and a Wendy’s..."
Talk about some good luck, on another MySpace page the police stumbled upon a picture of another suspect holding the exact model of semiautomatic gun that was used in the robberies. While many police have to dig for weeks to find information, these cops were spoon fed the information because the criminals in this case loved to show off.
The robbers in this case were actually three teenagers who were all getting into trouble. According to the Examiner.com story, the spree that involved five separate robberies only netted slightly over $1,000. The robbers include an 18 year old, a 17 year old, and a 16 year old. The leader of the group was suspected to be a running back for the Blake High School football team, 18-year-old Vernon J. Hobbs. This was a bad mistake for Hobbs who was busy attracting a nice sized collection of recruiting letters from different colleges across the country. Yet, the pictures, as well as information about the getaway car used in the robberies has sealed the deal.
From our information that has not been a court date yet for the offenders, and it is also unknown if the juveniles will be charged as juveniles or as adults. It is clear, this will harm Hobb’s football career and it will be a bit more difficult for him to get a good college to take him now, assuming he is even out to go to college. Hobb’s is currently a junior, so there is sometime to wrap this up before it kills his college plans completely.
Situations like this are not uncommon, police are starting to learn that MySpace is a great place to find information, and check out some leads. As an informational tool, MySpace is wonderful. Many times criminals will have other criminals on their friends list, which makes it easier to find the other accomplices and cohorts of a crime.
While this is not always the case, it has been a very effective method for law enforcement so far. This is certainly not the first incident of the police finding valuable information on a MySpace page. There have been other pages, as well as pictures and videos linked to criminal activity all across the country. The question becomes will this trend continue, or will it fall by the wayside and the criminals will move onto somewhere else to promote their activities.
MySpace has so far been good with law enforcement in removing questionable material, however as more criminals appear it becomes harder to screen out all of the troublemakers making the social network giant work harder to keep the site safe for everyone.
By a show of hands, how many people know who Tom is on MySpace? Now from those same show of hands, who knows who Trent Lapinski is? Very few I’m guessing, however Trent is causing waves in the MySpace community with his accusations against MySpace, Tom and so many more. Why the accusations? Trent Lapinski has a theory that MySpace is not truly what people think, instead of being only a social networking site, he claims that it was designed for the purpose of mass advertising and profits.
Let us take a moment and start with Tom Anderson, Trent claims that Tom is not quite who he is portrayed to be. This is the guy that almost everybody knows, you see him from the moment you create your very first MySpace account, up until the moment, you close your account. He is always going to be your very first friend, and you cannot delete him.
"Tom is the most popular guy on MySpace and the apparent creator of the website. But is that really true? "
According to Trent’s theory many people do not realize that Tom Anderson is really a PR concept that was hashed up behind locked doors of an internet company that did not want to appear as a marketing giant getting larger. The whole goal of putting Tom into the public eye was to create the impression that MySpace was an underdog making it big. Tom has struck gold when he created MySpace, and that is still to this day the concept that most people think of when they hear MySpace.
Trent goes on to say that people have also been under the impression that MySpace was simply a viral success that seemed to pop up suddenly overnight and sweep across the country. Cleverly disguised, the company behind MySpace, News Corp has worked very hard to make sure the site has the appearance and function of a viral site. However, the companies behind the success of MySpace have pushed the site very hard, very quickly. When the site was initially created MySpace pushed members of CupidJunction.com a dating website to sign up. This was almost 3 million instant members! How many viral websites come out with that to start with?
Trent claims that MySpace was actually created by eUniverse not Tom Anderson. The company later changed their name to Intermix Media and has since pushed MySpace to make it as large as possible. With over 50 million e-mail addresses, plus 18 million web users the company had a very large stock for initial advertising purposes. This really helped MySpace get started, and allowed a huge kick off.
Mr. Lapinski also alleges that spam is the primary name of the of the game for MySpace. No matter what you are doing, you are bombarded by spam from all around. There is spam on each and every page, several banners, and ads per page. Moreover, add to that the fact that bands, and artists and almost every business is trying to pursue the business options they are finding online. This includes MySpace where there are millions of users, and tons of advertising is available.
Trent has even stated that simply by tapping into the MySpace market, these advertisers are able to focus on brand new perspective buyers they would not have otherwise had. Simply by adding friends to your MySpace account you are able to send messages to anyone on your friend list. This is a great way to increase your advertising abilities. How much better could it be for those looking to expand advertising possibilities?
According to "Trent’s theory" MySpace was simply created as a form of competition against the website Friendster? Most do not realize this, nor do they realize that the major players in the MySpace process all have, or had Friendster accounts! This includes the CEO of MySpace Chris DeWolfe, who has had a Friendster account since June of 2003. Remember, MySpace was not launched until August of 2003.
Trent has dug very deeply into the company, but it still remains to be known whether his claims are completely accurate or not (it sounds most like a load of shit to me). But you never know, MySpace might have a few dirty little secrets that they would rather sweep under the carpet.
In a land where MySpace is the ubber chief of social networking, being banned from the site could be death sentence for sites like ours. Sites such as Photobucket are just one the many sites that have been severely crippled by the MySpace bans (that was until Myspace absorbed them). Over the past few months, the blocking of 3rd party widgets and flash files has left websites wondering if they could end up next on the banned list.
Profile Pitstop provides a Free MP3 player as well as a slideshow creator that could fall victim to blanket bans from Myspace.
Why do they ban so many other sites? Simple, as MySpace grows they are trying to keep the web traffic on their own servers, which generates them more money. By allowing other websites to work with them, they are practically giving away money.
While Profile Pitstop has not set out with the purpose of upsetting MySpace, it seems that even sites who do not try to upset the social network giant end up banned at some point. Many of the websites that offer widget services that are compatible with MySpace have ended up banned as well. With MySpace, banning everything from Photobucket, to MP3 widgets and almost everything in between it seems it is only a matter of time before every website that tries to support MySpace is banned.
With many companies losing as much as 40% of their traffic after a MySpace ban, it is very easy to see why this can be the kiss of death. In a time where internet traffic can mean the difference between successful business and going under. While no company sets out to upset anyone who can help their business grow some businesses, still make mistakes that cause problems. With the misunderstandings sprouting up with MySpace on an almost daily basis, many companies are running scared to avoid being the next victim of the MySpace axe.
People wonder if Profile Pitstop will be next, however we are quite proud to say that at this point there is no reason to worry about us being banned. As far as we know, Profile Pitstop has done nothing to upset MySpace in any way?
We strive to help you make the most of your MySpace experience. We have managed to learn from the mistakes and plan to avoid the MySpace blacklist that seems to circle around the internet. With our great products we do not want to disappoint the people who rely on us. Thanks for you support and for helping to make our site a success.
A New report has just confirmed what we have always thought to be true;
There are 'Thousands of sex offenders using MySpace... posing a risk to children who are among the site's most avid users, eight US attorneys-general have said. (SMH, Thousands of sex offenders using Myspace)
This information has come to light after an internal investigation, but the identity of the sources was not given.
As this news comes to light, US lawmakers are considering making it a crime for anyone over 18 to misrepresent their age for the purpose of luring a minor over the internet for illegal sexual contact.
While age verification measures would mean fewer sign ups for Myspace (and fewer advertising dollars), surely this is evidence that such steps should be taken sooner rather then later?
How often have you ever wished you could share a file with your friends and family? This is a wish for some who would love to share information. Now there is nothing stopping you from doing this. You can easily create a widget that will allow you to share whatever file you choose.
While this is a great dream for some, it seems like a nightmare to others. Sleep easy though, this is really simple to do and is not hard at all. With the great new file sharing widget from box.net, it could not be simpler to share the files of your choices, even on MySpace! That is the great news, especially since MySpace is one of the largest social networking sites around.
With widgets appearing everywhere it was only a matter of time before a file sharing widget was created. The good news is that there are several accounts you can choose from. The smallest widget that is offered package wise from box.net is free to use. This makes it a very attractive option for users who are seeking that perfect file sharing solution.
An Example of the Box.Net File Sharing Widget
Using the box.net file sharing widget it is possible to download files as well as stream video and images. This makes it a great option for those looking to add some functionality to their MySpace page. There are similar widgets on the market including those from Splashcast and Pickle.
Some of the features of the widget include the ability to access the files from your mobile phone , as well as allow users to submit their own files to the widget. You have the ability to customize it to your exact needs, which really helps you a lot if you are seeking a highly customizable widget. With the ability to support videos, images and documents this widget is highly versatile and a great tool. This makes the perfect method for sharing pictures with your friends and family.
With the ability to share those videos, mp3’s and so much more quickly and easily it is a wonder why more MySpace pages do not have these great widgets. With the ease of getting your own, they are great for the viral internet craze. It is possible to sign up for your own widget right from someone else’s widget making it easy to get, simple to share files with, and easy to customize for your needs.
Why should you be left dealing with the hassle of large files in email when it is possible to share those special files so easily with this great little widget? Instead of having to rely on another site to host everything in a format you cannot share very easily, you can simply use this widget and share away with anyone and everyone you select.
Why worry about forgetting to send that picture to someone in your address book, with it added to your MySpace page as a widget makes it easy for people to get the pictures and videos they want, while skipping over the files they do not want. Perfect solution for everyone.
Find your own widget today, and start sharing those great files you have always wanted to share, beware this may become addictive! After all being able to quickly share a file with your friends and family is a great feeling for many. Being able to share those files easily on their MySpace page is something that many have only dreamed about being able to do; with that dream now coming true, it is a great day in the MySpace community.
Last week, 2 Australian teenagers hung themselves after posting a suicide notes on Myspace: "let Steph and me b free." The girls, who apparently identified themselves with the emo subculture - described by one Sydney Newspaper as “stereotypically introverted and derided by other subcultures for self-pitying poetry commonly posted on Myspace.”
Myspace is full of self-pity; the sad thing is no one usually takes any notice of it unless you do something stupid. Kids… if you are having suicidal thoughts, or just need to talk to someone, there is help!

Millersville University is being sued after it decided it wouldn’t give Stacy Snyder her English Degree. Why you ask? A picture of her at a Halloween Party which bore the caption ‘Drunken Pirate’. What a bunch of dicks. Stacy, we are with you all the way on this one – This case does serve as a reminder though – be careful what you post on Myspace.
This week, Web Pro News reported that “the debut of MySpace News has generated a great big shrug among tech commentators so far.” (Myspace News Get a Big ‘Meh’). Wired's Mike Calore had this to say: "As they say, Rome (or Digg) wasn't built in a day, but as a product, MySpace News is what I would politely classify as "undercooked."
We haven’t even looked at yet? I had no idea it had even been launched. Can someone tell me where I can find it? LOL.
According to the SMH , two Brits, the parents of a 17-year-old girl named Rachel Bell, left their daughter at home while they went on a caravanning holiday after warning her not to have “any kids or drink in the house” - they were obviously asking for trouble.
Rachel (who we can’t find on Myspace) posted a party invite on her Myspace Profile and news of the party spread like wild fire; instead of the 30 or 40 guests she had hoped for, over 200 revelers turned up, some of them apparently armed with a suitcases of full of booze.
“It’s like house rape”: Alan and Elaine (the parents) arrived home to find plastic buckets full of vomit and cigarettes everywhere. Lights were pulled from the ceiling and the most of the furniture was damaged or destroyed. Someone had even gone to the trouble of urinating on a wedding dress.
The ‘Skins’ themed party (Let's trash the average family-sized house disco party) left the parents with a $48,000 damage bill.
As affiliate marketers and spammers wrestle it out in the Myspace for your hits, clicks and email addresses, the escalation of “fake profiles” used to exploit the system seems to be on the rise – do you ever wonder how many of the purported 90 million plus users are in fact real?
If you have a Myspace account, then you might have received a message like this: “My friend Joe told me about this site that gives out complimentary ring tones for anybody on Thursday... So I had to let all my friends know.... “
A more common scenario is a ‘hot tip’ from a new friend which details a new way of make money by completing surveys at home. Comment SPAM like this is becoming increasingly frequent, and Internet marketers (armed with fake profiles and readily available software) can reach thousands of Myspace users with barely a CAPTCHA key to stop them.
Reporting SPAM like this usually results in a perfunctory cut and paste reply, presumably from one of the moderators posing as Tom (AKA Myspace Man): I know a lot of you are seeing SPAM comments on your page. sorry about that!
Tom goes onto say “…we are in the process of taking legal action against the losers behind this comment spam. bad news is that's going to take awhile because courts are slow, good news is we won some recent cases which is going to make it easy to punish the beejesus out of them.”
Interestingly enough, Myspace was the first site to prosecute a teenager who sent millions of messages (or SPIM – SPAM via instant message) to Myspace accounts. He attempted to blackmail Tom Anderson into an exclusive marketing deal and was later arrested in Los Angeles after being lured to a fake business encounter.
While Myspace might have nailed a few of the big phish, the ease of creating sham accounts remains - the only requirement is a free email account. Another quandary for Myspace is that it’s not only a haven for spammers; it’s also the cyber-lair of choice for those who prey on the young. In a matter of minutes a registered sex offender can be up and running with a bogus profile pretending to be whoever fits in with their target market.
Predictably, it’s not hard to make friends.
We decided to find out how News Corp deals with comment spammers, perverts, white supremacists and, of course, TOS-breakers - What exactly are the consequences for deliberately posting “photographs containing nudity, or obscene, lewd, excessively violent, harassing, sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable subject matter”.
As it turns out (at least in this experiment), there are none. Using fake profiles based on fictional characters, we tried as hard as we could to get ourselves banned. We even reported ourselves to see what sort of responses we could muster.
We tried sending out affiliate offers to our entire friends list. One young chap told us “YOU ARE REPORTED” adding “You came in a flood of requests, 17 in 2 minutes”. We dressed another profile up in white robes and went to work adding friends. Strangely enough many African Americans who accepted our invitation didn’t seem to care less that we had White Power and KKK propaganda all over our page.
As well as the abuse reports submitted by others, we tried our hardest to submit our own abuse reports to no avail. The accounts used to send out blatant SPAM (and invitations to join the KKK are still up and running).
With our third account, we decided to hide the default Myspace advertising code at the top of the page (apparently accounts have been closed for such incursions). Up went the “Myspace is Lame” banner. We even sent instructions to our friends list detailing how to do the same thing with a snippet of code. We reported ourselves again. Nothing.
In the end we decided to upload porn videos and images. Surely that would have to get our account banned? We also asked 10 different women for naked photos of themselves, specifically erotic photos of videos that we would give them money for. Interestingly enough, no complaints were made and most women were polite in their responses: “i'm flattered, but i dont play like that”…
The moderator’s approach was to remove the video (some of the more suggestive pictures were also deleted). The account is still active and we have received no messages or warnings about a pending account closure. If anything can be learnt from this experiment, it’s that “MySpace.com assumes no responsibility for monitoring the MySpace Services for inappropriate Content or conduct.”
According to PC World, 2 anonymous hackers plan to release information on Myspace bugs and security vulnerabilities during every day of April. The hackers (Mondo Armando and Müstaschio) have dubbed their pet project “Whiny Attention Seeking Ploy” and are going after Myspace because it’s more fun - because they are “notoriously [obnoxious] about responding to security issues.”
The month of bugs, is due start on April fools day, apparently it’s not a joke. We’ll keep you posted.
MySpace is getting into the online news business with a launch due in the 2nd quarter… or at least Terry Heaton thinks so. His story is based on hearsay “according to inside sources”. The very fact that we’re reporting on it means you are reading third hand information that may not actually be true.
Anyway. Apparently Myspace News will take news to a “whole new level” by dynamically aggregating real time news from the top sites around the world. I might have my head in the sand, but isn’t this what a news aggregator does?
Terry also reports that they the news service will create topical news pages that user can interact and engage with throughout the day… as opposed to un-topical news pages? They must have a team of geniuses working at Myspace HQ.
Users who don’t normally leave their bedrooms now won’t even have to leave the site: “Myspace users previously had to leave the site to find comprehensive news, gossip, sporting news, etc. With Myspace News, we bring the news to them!”. It will be interesting to see what sort of news Myspace thinks will appeal to Generation Y in the year 2007. One would imagine that’s it’s going to be MORE Britney in Rehab and LESS Car bombs in Baghdad.
Even worse then this appalling concept is that Myspace News will supposedly allow registered users to ad comments nauseum on every news item that comes through the system. While this might have social book marking giants like Digg shaking in their pants, I’m not convinced it’s a great idea:
MySpace, it is worth noting, is part of Rupert’s Multi-billion dollar vortex which has newspapers and TV stations in the US, UK and Australia. Don’t get me wrong, The New York Post, Fox News, The Sun and News of the World are quality publications with their own highly biased agendas, but letting users water down their content based on hearsay and gossip as it’s passed along the grapevine can only lead to the erosion of worthwhile news.
As someone wise once said, "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, especially then there's a lot of Myspace users involved”. As Terry points out, there is a serious concern to this “Internet Pureplay” – and that is companies taking on the role on the of media. Interestingly enough, other media companies like USA Today are gearing up to launch their own social networks. In the future, not only will users be able to interact with the newspaper, but with other readers.
As market share in traditional media sources is shrinking who knows where all this traffic grabbing is going to end up… especially when everyone wants you to “come to OUR portal or OUR site or OUR social network”.
10 years ago, the CK label was more popular than grunge - Suffering from brand fatigue and short on ideas, the good people at Calvin Klein are bringing us a new fragance based on the smell of Myspace.
CKIN2U (number plate speak for Calvin-Klein-In-to-you) is a new perfume with is reportedly targetted at the "hip" Myspace Gen Y crowd. The whole thing is completely lame - the product launch has even been backed with a social networking gimic with the tagline of "register now, connect later". groan.
"We have envisioned this as the first fragrance for the technosexual generation," CK president Tom Murray told the NY Times.
So what does it smell like? A lizard rag? A keyboard? arse sweat? I'm actually not to sure because it's not released until March 28. CKIN2U is, however, meant to capture the essence of 'connection without commitment'.... and we all know what that smells like don't we?
Are you new to Myspace or having problems getting started? Don’t know what HTML is or couldn’t be bothered learning? Perhaps you’ve made a start but your profile looks like a bomb has hit it? Keep reading - there’s a good chance that you fit into one of these categories:
The Complete Myspace Tard - You have no idea about how to edit the layout or what HTML is. Someone else opened the browser for you so you could “get onto the internet thingy”. You stumbled through the account creation process and experienced a misplaced sense of accomplishment when you uploaded a photo of yourself to your new profile.
The Myspace Novice - You’ve set up your account and spent a few hours drafting information about yourself that only registered sex offenders are going to read. You’ve managed to get a few pictures of yourself online. You’ve updated your layout and posted your emo suicide note for all your new ‘friends’ to read.
The Color-blind who have learnt HTML- You know a bit about HTML and you’ve struggled through the horrifying Myspace control panel to do everything listed above. You’ve created your own layout but for some reason you’ve chosen eye searing colors and a blinking tiled background which means you have to highlight everything in order to read it.
If this sounds familiar then YOU NEED HELP (or at least a little guidance). Follow these simple steps to ensure that your Myspace Profile isn’t as embarrassing as your first sexual experience.
1. Find a good Free Myspace Layout
The good news: 90% of all Myspace Profiles look awful so you can easily stand out in the crowd. Firstly, the content on your page shouldn’t take a backseat to the layout, especially if you want people to be able to read all the stuff that absolutely nobody gives a shit about. You want your friends to be able see the last book you read – you don’t want to give them retinal cancer with your flashing purple background. Luckily it is easy to find a nice looking layout - On Profilepitstop.com you can even add the code straight to your page so even special people should be able to do it. Find a Profile that you like, enter your login details and hit upload. Easy. (Time taken: 5 minutes).
2. Create some nice looking text to welcome your visitors
Nothing says “Hello, look at me I exist” better then some flashy text. With this Glitter Text Generator you can create some unique text to welcome people to your page. Try and use colors that work with your layout and think of something interesting to write. If you can’t think of anything, try spelling your own name. Grab the code, add it the top of the About Me Section and click on update all settings. (Time taken: 10 minutes).
3. Add something funny so people know how funny you are
This step is completely optional, but it’s a lot of fun. Use our Flashpix Generator to make your own text pictures that you can easily add to your profile. There are a few different options to choose from: tattoo your name on a stomach, create your own fortune cookies or put your favorite poo joke on a Mug of Tea. Grab the Code, put it wherever you want to appear on your profile and you’re done. (Time taken: 5-10 minutes).
4. Make your own MP3 player
Most Myspace profiles have auto-playing music that inevitably starts by surprise at maximum volume, and it’s usually music that you could dump into the “truck drivers in love” genre. The default Myspace player also stinks because you only get to put one track on it. NOTE: If your taste in music stinks, you should probably skip this section *(see footnote).
There are few different choices - The Tape Player is a popular choice. Creating your own Mix Tape has never been easier. Simply use the search engine to find as many tracks as you like, add them to the list. Give your player a name and then you can add the code automatically to any section of your Myspace Profile. Very cool and it’s so simple your pet Labrador could do it. (Time taken: 10-15 minutes).
